TSLG (Sponsored) Research
TSLG manages a strategic research programme that aims to address knowledge
gaps in establishing a long term view for the railway; the programme supports
the early technology developments towards this. Many of the prohects have a
broad scope so require a whole system perspective for the railway.

WHAT IS STRATEGIC RESEARCH?
Strategic research is necessary to realise the long-term direction as set out in the Rail Technical Strategy, and can be characterised as:
-
Encompassing defined but broad-ranging subjects where it is possible to identify a need for improvement, but not necessarily the specific solutions
-
Addressing complex, multi-facetted problems Focussing on solutions that may be many years ahead
-
Requiring innovative approaches Likely to involve complex modelling and/or proof of concept
-
Requiring strong industry and academic collaboration |
